Merano is an alpine town in South Tyrol is known for its Spas and the buildings in the historic center fascinates visitors with its medieval arcades and elegant Art Nouveau buildings. In the nineteenth century the city was declared a "city of winter care" and, now as then, grape treatments and apple baths attract many visitors.It stands out for its large parks and green walks, botanical gardens and numerous waterways.Geographically it is located 325m above the sea. There are numerous possibilities for entertainment, shopping under the arcades of the historic center and a visit to the Botanical Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle. In winter, there are for the legendary ski areas in the surrounding area and a visit to the Christmas market.

The Botanical Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, one of the most popular tourist destinations in South Tyrol, are the ideal place to relax. They were elected among the "most beautiful botanical gardens in Italy" (2005) and were awarded the "International Garden of the Year 2013" award at the "Garden Tourism Conference 2013" in Toronto.
